Nature & Wildlife

Cocoa Beach and the entire Space Coast of Florida is an eco-tourist’s dream come true. A place of spectacular natural resources, our area features rare beauty, sandy turtle nesting beaches, rich lagoon waters, and numerous nature parks providing outstanding opportunities for outdoor recreation, discovery or relaxation. While on the Space Coast, you can observe dolphins and the endangered Florida Manatee in the Indian River Lagoon, view majestic cranes and wading birds at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, get “up close and personal” to our alligators and wildlife by taking a guided nature tour, or explore the amazing hammocks of mixed tropical and temperate vegetation. The possibilities are endless…

Not many places offer such unique variety as Florida’s Space Coast. In fact, our National areas have been ranked 11th in the world among Ecotourist destinations that “give the most enriching experience,” and The Wall Street Journal has ranked the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife festival of Brevard County as the 3rd best birding festival in the United States.

The Cocoa Beach area has one of the most diverse ecosystems in North America due to the rare combination of climates. We are exposed to a temperate climate to the north and a warm subtropical climate to the south, combining the habitat and environmental needs for a wide variety of animal life. In addition, our area is home to approximately 50 or more threatened or endangered animal species.

So, come to Cocoa Beach and experience the WILD SIDE of Florida!
